Mediation Brief

As you can see abortion is and will remain an extremely contraversial topic. Both sides tend to be a little extreme since the idea of life and death is involved. There is no common ground between the fact that life begins at conception, not when the baby is out of the womb. The fetus is a living human being and can feel pain which doesn't make abortion an ethical procedure. I would not go as far as to say that abortion is every woman's right but more of an option because it is there for women to think about but shouldn't be considered a right to have an abortion if they happen to become pregnant. Rape victims are obviously a little different because sometimes it is not their fault if they become pregnant. A lot of times, women who become victims of rape do not place themselves in the safest of environments where any incident of sexual assault could have been easily avoided. There are also times when completely innocent women are raped or assaulted and is understandable if these particular victims don't want to carry the child of a rapist. It is easy to sit back and say that aborted children would all have turned out to be very productive individuals in society from a pro-life standpoint. It is probably best to say that there is an equal chance that those individuals could have turned out to be very influential persons or criminals and not so positive citizens.
